Lucinda Childs's 1979 Dance was presented as the centerpiece of the 2010 FringeArts Festival. Dance was a signal achievement of postmodern artists—a collaboration between choreographer Childs, visual artist and filmmaker Sol LeWitt, and composer Philip Glass. Dance influenced a wave of collaborative ventures that characterized art making across disciplines in the 1980s. In conjunction with the showing of Dance at the festival, and in partnership with the Institute of Contemporary Art and International House Philadelphia, FringeArts organized a film series to showcase the work of Childs and Glass. The selected films provided insight into their creative processes, their careers, and their lives, which provided context for the contemporary viewing of Dance.
