Opera Philadelphia will implement a new business and program model that will feature an annual season-opening, multi-venue festival, launching in fall 2017. Supported by new marketing strategies and a broad range of performance offerings, the festival will draw audiences from both inside and outside the regional metropolitan area, and make Opera Philadelphia the only US opera company to open an annual season with a festival. Opera Philadelphia's new programming was developed after the company completed a 14-month study of its current and potential audiences—research that was supported by a 2014 Center Advancement grant, as the company sought to understand the shifting patterns of arts and culture consumption.
