In 2013, two-dozen Philadelphia public schools were shuttered by city authorities in an effort to close a budget deficit. Temple Contemporary commissioned 2006 Pew Fellow and MacArthur Fellow Pepón Osorio to create a new installation that responded to these closings—specifically addressing the loss of a single elementary school in North Philadelphia, not far from Temple University. Osorio and a group of teachers, students, and neighbors paraded objects from one of the shuttered school's classrooms down the street and onto Temple's campus, where those objects were incorporated into an installation, inside a Tyler School of Art classroom. On view through May 2016, the installation served as a living exhibition and discussion space for those most impacted by this particular closing.
