The Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts produced a series of programs of contemporary American music performed by the American Composers Orchestra (ACO). During its residency at the Annenberg Center, ACO presented two concerts by its groundbreaking Orchestra Underground with guest musicians and artists, as well as a "New Music Reading" of emerging Philadelphia composers. A series of master classes and lectures brought a number of guest artists and visiting composers to Philadelphia, including Fred Ho, Clint Needham, Greg Spears, Kamran Ince, Keeril Makan, David Schiff, Fang Man, Margaret Brouwer, Kati Agócs, and Rand Steiger.

An urban performing arts center on the campus of the University of Pennsylvania, Penn Live Arts (formerly Annenberg Center Live) presents touring theater, jazz, and world music. Penn Live Arts engages world-renowned and emerging artists who express adventuresome perspectives on contemporary issues and who further the organization's commitment to artistic and intellectual excellence, diversity, and arts education for adult, student and family audiences.
