Group Motion Dance Company
Originally founded in Berlin in 1962 as a contemporary dance company rooted in multimedia, the company relocated to Philadelphia in 1968 and quickly established itself in the United States dance scene, performing at New York's Judson Church and at Jacob's Pillow with support from the National Endowment for the Arts touring program. In addition to company productions, Group Motion also hosts regular improvisational movement workshops for the public, which allow people of all experience levels to employ dance as a language of expression. Most recently, with support from the Center, the company engaged choreographer Susan Rethorst to create a new work for the group's core dancers.
