American Premiere of More Mouvements für Lachenmann

Bowerbird

Bowerbird, in cooperation with the 2011 FringeArts Festival, presented the American premiere of French choreographer Xavier Le Roy's stunning More Mouvements für Lachenmann, with members of the Viennese music ensemble Klangforum Wien. Le Roy has gained eminence in Europe with a series of works that redefine choreography as an art form, one that focuses on the behavioral aspects of everyday movement. About this work, Le Roy has noted, "It is something between a theater, a choreography, and a concert performance." Selected members of the Philadelphia dance community engaged with the choreographer in a series of workshops on improvisation techniques.

Bowerbird is a presenting organization that expands public understanding of experimental music. Since 2006, the organization has produced over 600 events throughout the Philadelphia region, featuring music, dance, film, and related art forms.
