Composer Zhou Long is visiting professor of composition and director of Musica Nova at the University of Missouri, Kansas City Conservatory of Music. Zhou served as music director of Music from China in New York City for over a decade and has received numerous honors and awards, including: ASCAP's Adventurous Programming Award, recording grants from the Mary Flagler Cary Trust and the Aaron Copland Fund for Music, a Pulitzer Prize for music, Masterprize, the CalArts/Alpert Award in the Arts, fellowships from the NEA, the Guggenheim and Rockefeller Foundations, and an Academy Award in Music from the American Academy of Arts and Letters. Commissions include the Koussevitzky Music Foundation in the Library of Congress, the Fromm Music Foundation at Harvard University, Meet the Composer, Chamber Music America, and the New York State Council on the Arts. Long was a Center music LOI panelist in 2012 and a music panelist in 2008.
