Tomoko Akaboshi is a Japanese violinist, music contractor, and music producer who became the first woman of color to coordinate music for a Broadway musical (A Strange Loop, Pulitzer Prize, Tony Award for Best Musical). She has worked with such internationally acclaimed artists as Andrea Bocelli, Alicia Keys, Alan Silvestri, Joe Hisaishi, and Audra McDonald, at venues including Carnegie Hall, Symphony Hall, and Lincoln Center. Akaboshi has coordinated with orchestras including Boston Symphony Orchestra, Tokyo Philharmonic, and Czech Philharmonic and has produced recording sessions at Dvořák Hall, Oceanway, Power Station, and more across four continents. She has been featured as music supervisor, producer, and coordinator on major projects in a variety of genres and mediums, including video game Elden Ring, Star Wars: In Concert, and The Tonight Show. Akaboshi’s passion for breaking down cultural, racial, and musical barriers led her to found ensembles and organizations such as tutti, The Resonance Collective, and Tokyo Strings Workshop.
