Steven Lubar is a professor in the department of American studies at Brown University, and teaches in Brown's public humanities program. He was previously the director of Brown’s John Nicholas Brown Center for Public Humanities and Cultural Heritage. Lubar came to Brown after 20 years at the Smithsonian's National Museum of American History, where he was chair of the division of history of technology, and where he worked on many exhibitions and collection projects. At Brown, he has expanded his interests to include digital humanities, community cultural development, cultural heritage, and the history of museums. Lubar earned his PhD in history from the University of Chicago. He was a Center Heritage panelist in 2013, a LOI panelist in Exhibitions & Public Interpretation in 2015, and a panelist for Exhibition & Public Interpretation in 2018.
