Sojin Kim is a curator and special assistant to the director at the Smithsonian Center for Folklife and Cultural Heritage. She previously held positions as curator of history at the Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County and curator at the Japanese American National Museum, where she developed exhibitions in collaboration with community members, organizations, and scholars. These projects included Landscaping America: Beyond the Japanese Garden, Big Drum: Taiko in the United States, and Boyle Heights: The Power of Place. Kim has been a lecturer in folklore at UCLA and Cal State University, Los Angeles. She serves on the board of the Alliance for California Traditional Arts. She was a Center heritage panelist in 2009.
