Ruth Estévez is a curator, writer, and stage designer. She is currently gallery director and curator of REDCAT at the Walt Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles, where she has worked with artists including Javier Téllez, Pablo Bronstein, and Allora & Calzadilla, and curated the group exhibitions Agency (Assembly: Before and After the Split Second Recorded) and Hotel Theory. Forthcoming exhibitions include a newly commissioned project with Pedro Barateiro and Quinn Latimer, and a group exhibition in collaboration with Jose Luis Blondet that will analyze the relationship between gesture, meaning, and spectacle in performance art and theater. From 2007 to 2011, Estévez served as chief curator at the Museo de Arte Carrillo Gil, Mexico City. In 2010 she cofounded LIGA Space for Architecture Mexico City. In 2017, she will re-stage a historical performance piece from Argentinian artist León Ferrari in collaboration with The Getty Research Institute. Estévez has contributed to numerous exhibition catalogues and art publications, and has independently organized exhibitions in Spain, France, Belgium, and Mexico. In 2016, she served as a panelist in Exhibitions & Public Interpretation.
