Rose Sherman joined the Minnesota Historical Society in 1999 as director of enterprise technology. Previously she was employed for 17 years at 3M, where she worked in more than 20 countries, planning and implementing information technology strategies for business management. In addition to planning and managing the society's enterprise technology architecture for two museums and 20+ historic sites, Sherman has been collaborating with society staff to produce award winning websites at mnhs.org, featuring e-commerce with digital product delivery; visitor contributed stories; wotr, a user annotation tool for collections; and social media. Significant website accomplishments include UDDakotaWar.org, The1968Exhibit.org, and Placeography.org, a cross-collections search using SOLR, MNGreatestGeneration.org, and Becoming Minnesota—an immigrant oral history website for grades 7–12. Sherman served as a Center heritage panelist in 2013.
