Rebeca Mauleón is a celebrated pianist, composer, producer, educator, and author, and the director of education at SFJAZZ. She has recorded and performed with legends including Tito Puente, Carlos Santana, and Steve Winwood. Mauleón's compositions range from symphonic works and Afro-Cuban jazz to music for film, television, and computer software companies, as well as writing for books and articles. Awards and honors include Meet the Composer's New Residencies Award, the Sundance Composers' Fellowship, a commission by the Oakland East Bay Symphony, San Francisco Jazz Festival Beacon Award, and a Latin Grammy nomination for her production of Orestes Vilató's It's About Time.
