Judy Hussie-Taylor has served as executive director and chief curator of Danspace Project since 2008, where her theme-based Platform series has mobilized artists as advocates and curators within the field. She is also a faculty member at and serves on the advisory committee of the Institute for Curatorial Practice in Performance at Wesleyan University. From 1990 to 2008, Hussie-Taylor lived in Colorado, where she contributed to the artistic and administrative leadership of Colorado Dance Festival (1990–1998), Boulder Museum of Contemporary Art (1998– 2004), and the Museum of Contemporary Art/Denver (2005–2007). She also served on the faculty of the University of Colorado Boulder’s Department of Art and Art History (2000–2005). As chief curator of Danspace Project, Hussie-Taylor engaged in major curatorial collaborations with the Museum of Modern Art's Simone Forti project, Madison Square Park Conservancy's Josiah McElheny installation, and Times Square Arts' site-specific dance festival (2018). She was appointed Chevalier de l'Ordre des Arts et des Lettresby France’s Ministry of Culture in 2014 and received a New York Dance & Performance Bessie Award, the first ever awarded to a curator, in 2017. Hussie-Taylor served as a Center panel chair for the Pew Fellowships in 2019 and for Performance in 2015. She was a Pew Fellowships panelist in 2013 and 2012, and as a Performance LOI panelist in 2014.
