Jessie Montgomery is a violinist, composer, and music educator, who currently serves as composer-educator for the Albany Symphony Orchestra. During the 2015-16 season, she is performing with Catalyst Quartet and touring with Yo-Yo Ma's Silk Road Ensemble. Montgomery has received commissions from the Orpheus Chamber Orchestra, the Young People's Chorus of New York City, and Cygnus Ensemble. In 2011, she was the Van Lier Fellow at the American Composers Orchestra, and her work has been performed at SONiC Festival and the Composers OutFront! series. From 2004 to 2009, Montgomery was a member of the Providence String Quartet, a pioneering ensemble in community-based music education. Montgomery holds a BA in violin performance from The Juilliard School and a MA in composition and film scoring from New York University. In 2016, Montgomery served as a panelist in Performance.
