Jennifer S.B. Calienes is an independent consultant and senior advisor for the Maggie Allesee National Center for Choreography (MANCC) at Florida State University, where she served as founding director (2004–14). At MANCC, she supported the work of over 65 contemporary choreographers and dance companies though multi-week research and development residencies. From 1999–2004, Calienes was program manager for the National Dance Project, a program of the New England Foundation for the Arts, which supports the production and distribution of dance in the United States. She is an active advocate for contemporary artists and the support of new work, and has served as a panelist, chair and facilitator for programs at The MAP Fund, the National Endowment for the Arts, and United States Artists. Calienes is also a founding partner of the Hatchery Project, a multi-year, multi-site developmental residency initiative between MANCC, Vermont Performance Lab, Chocolate Factory (NY) and RED Arts Projects (PA). She served as the chair of the Center's dance panel in both 2011 and 2012, and also acted as a LOI panelist during those years. Most recently, she served as a 2014 LOI panelist in Performance.
