Jay Sanders is executive director and chief curator of the New York-based organization Artists Space. He previously served as curator of performance at the Whitney Museum of American Art, where he curated the exhibitions Laura Poitras: Astro Noise (2016); Rituals of Rented Island: Object Theater, Loft Performance, and the New Psychodrama – Manhattan, 1970-1980 (2013/14); the performance series DANCENOISE: Don’t Look Back (2015); and Anywhere in Time: A Conlon Nancarrow Festival (2015). With Elisabeth Sussman, he co-organized the 2012 Whitney Biennial. Sanders has curated numerous exhibitions, concerts, and events over the past decade including Numina lente (2011), a three-evening music and performance festival presented at the Clemente Soto Vélez Center and Looking Back: The Third White Columns Annual (2008) at White Columns. He has programmed performance, music, and film exhibitions at ISSUE Project Room, Anthology Film Archives, Sculpture Center, and for Performa. Sanders served as a panelist in Performance in 2016 and 2017.
