Frances Halsband is founding partner of Kliment Halsband Architects. From 1991–94, Halsband served as dean of the School of Architecture at Pratt Institute in New York. She has been visiting distinguished professor of design at many universities including the University of California at Berkeley, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and University of Pennsylvania. Halsbane was the first woman to be elected president of the New York Chapter of the American Institute of Architects. She has also served as president of the Architectural League of New York and commissioner of the New York Landmarks Preservation Commission. She sat on the Center's heritage panel in 2009.
