Erin Carlson Mast is CEO and executive director of President Lincoln’s Cottage in Washington, DC. She was a member of the original team leading to the Cottage’s grand opening in 2008 and has led the organization since 2010, including its transition to an independent 501(c)(3) in 2016. Mast has written for such publications as History News and The Public Historian, and she was a contributing author to Museums of Ideas: Commitment and Conflict and Mission Matters: Relevance and Museums in the 21st Century. She has also written short biographies of Abraham Lincoln and Mary Lincoln. She was recognized with the Excellence in Chief Executive Leadership Award in 2017, and she serves on the board of the American Association for State and Local History. She received an MA in museum studies from the George Washington University and a BA in history from the Ohio University Honors Tutorial College. Mast served as an Exhibitions & Public Interpretation (EPI) panelist at the Center in 2019 and 2017 and an LOI panelist for Performance and EPI in 2017.
