Edgar Arceneaux is a Los Angeles-based artist. From 1999-2012, he was director of the Watts House Project, a nonprofit neighborhood redevelopment organization. Solo exhibitions of his work have been presented internationally at venues including the Hammer Museum, The Studio Museum in Harlem, the 2008 Whitney Biennial, Kunstverein Ulm, and Kunstmuseum Basel. Arceneaux’s work has also been included in group exhibitions at Mona Bismarck American Center, Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles, San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, and Museum Ludwig, among others. He has received numerous awards and residencies, including Performa’s Malcolm McLaren Award, a Robert Rauschenberg Foundation Residency, a United States Artists Fellowship, and a Joyce Award. Arceneaux studied at the California Institute of the Arts, Fachhochschule Aachen, the Skowhegan School of Painting & Sculpture, and ArtCenter College of Design. In 2017, he served as a panelist in Exhibitions & Public Interpretation.
