Professor Bonnie C. Wade is chair of the department of music at the University of California, Berkeley, where she founded the ethnomusicology program in 1975. Wade specializes in the musics of Asia, with an emphasis on India and East Asia, and has authored and edited several scholarly books, articles, and publications. She has served as vice president of the American Musicological Society (1990–93) and president of the Society for Ethnomusicology (1999–2001), where she continues to maintain an active presence. She served on the Center's 2010 music panel.
