Anya Montiel, PhD, is a curator at the Smithsonian's National Museum of the American Indian (NMAI). Previously, she was the curator of American and Native American Women’s art and craft for the Renwick Gallery and the NMAI. She holds a doctorate degree in American studies from Yale University. Dr. Montiel’s research investigates the intersections of Native American art, American history, and art and economics.
