Andy Chan Donald was recently named one of San Francisco Business Times’ “40 Under 40.” Currently the associate artistic director at the American Conservatory Theater, he oversees the producing of the mainstage season and the development of new work. He was previously producer of artistic development and community programming at the New Jersey Performing Arts Center. His producing highlights include Wakey, Wakey (with Tony Hale), The Great Leap (with BD Wong), Seascape (director Pam MacKinnon), The Hip Hop Nutcracker (international tour; US cultural exchange), John Leguizamo’s Ghetto Klown (filmed for HBO), and The Music Man (director Robert O’Hara). He was artistic director of New York’s Naked Angels theater company for four seasons during which they produced Next Fall (Broadway, 2 Tony Award nominations) and This Wide Night (with Edie Falco and Alison Pill, 5 Lucille Lortel Award nominations). Donald currently serves as board vice president for the arts service organization Theatre Bay Area. He holds a BFA from New York University Tisch School of the Arts and an MFA from Columbia University where he was awarded the Barbara Whitman Prize for Theatre Management & Producing. He served as a Center panelist for Performance in 2020 and 2019.
