Amada Cruz is The Sybil Harrington Director of the Phoenix Art Museum. Prior to her appointment, Cruz served as executive director at San Antonio-based Artpace, known for its international artist residency and exhibition programs. She also previously served as program director for United States Artists in Los Angeles, where she was responsible for all programming activities of the Ford and Rockefeller Foundations initiative. Previous appointments include executive director of Artadia: The Fund for Art & Dialogue director of the Center for Curatorial Studies Museum at Bard College; acting chief curator at the Museum of Contemporary Art, Chicago; and associate curator at the Smithsonian's Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden. Born in Havana, Cruz began her career as a curatorial intern at the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum in New York. Cruz has served as a juror and advisor for numerous selection panels for institutional and individual grants across the country. In 2016, she served as a Pew Fellowships panelist.
