An Expectation of Violence

Support for the rehearsal and creation of An Expectation of Violence, a performance/dance theater project, in collaboration with sound designer and composer Mikaal Sulaiman. At times wild and heavily kinetic, movement themes for this dance delved into the intricacies of personal and public violence. Kosoko described this work as "part confessional and part living-history. The content is personal and at times dysfunctional and so is supported by a structure that is just as broken, sharp, and surprising." Throughout the grant period, Kosoko presented several work-in-progress showings, and later presented excerpts, as well as the completed work at venues in Philadelphia and New York City.
