Anna Drozdowski is an independent curator working in non-traditional, hybrid, and new performance practices. Her work responds to a landscape where the roles of the artist, curator, administrator, and producer are collapsing. Having managed performances, residencies, and dance companies throughout the Philadelphia area, Drozdowski currently leads a production and artist residency center based at Christ Church Neighborhood House. Additionally, she co-organizes the Thirdbird performance series, and supports new, artist-centered ideas and international exchanges. Drozdowski, a NYU Performance Studies graduate and Fulbright Fellow, brings adjacent fields into close proximity, recognizing that the most effective collaborations may be those whose methods challenge our prior working assumptions.
With funding from the Center, Drozdowski will introduce audiences to the collaborative work of Jonathan Burrows and Matteo Fargion, a European duo of virtuosic performers skilled in a playful and precise marriage of music, movement, and text, in a mid-career retrospective of the artists' work. "This duo represents an inspiring commitment to artistic investigation and to a life's work," says Drozdowski. "They are a strong fit for Philadelphia's growing cross-disciplinary community."
