David Felix Sutcliffe is a documentary filmmaker who creates intimate, character-driven stories about the complex experiences of Muslim American communities today. His feature film (T)ERROR premiered at the 2015 Sundance Film Festival and was awarded a Special Jury Prize for “Break Out First Feature.” A work of investigative journalism, the film takes audiences inside an active FBI counterterrorism investigation as it unfolds from the perspective of an informant. (T)ERROR was described by Newsweek as “one of the best documentaries of 2015” and by Variety as a “vital exposé.” Sutcliffe has been a fellow at the Sundance Institute, and his work has been screened at numerous international festivals and licensed by Netflix Worldwide, as well as television networks in France, Japan, Finland, and Israel, among other countries. His work has been supported by the BBC, Sundance Institute Documentary Fund, Tribeca Film Institute, Bertha BRITDOCS Journalism Fund, National Endowment for the Arts, and the Open Society Foundations. He holds a BA in film studies from Vassar College.
