Yannick Nézet-Séguin is the music director of the Philadelphia Orchestra, the Metropolitan Opera in New York, and the Orchestra Métropolitain in Montreal, as well as honorary conductor of the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra after serving as music director there from 2008 to 2018. Nézet-Séguin has worked with many leading European ensembles and enjoys close collaborations with Berliner Philharmoniker, Wiener Philharmoniker, Bayerischer Rundfunk Sinfonieorchester and Chamber Orchestra of Europe; between 2008 and 2014, he was Principal Guest Conductor of London Philharmonic Orchestra. He records exclusively for Deutsche Grammophon. He also conducts master classes at the Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia, the Juilliard School of New York, and other institutions.
A native of Montreal, Nézet-Séguin made his first appearance with the Philadelphia Orchestra in 2008 and was named music director in 2010. He has studied with many renowned conductors and considers the Italian conductor Carlo Maria Giulini to be his most important influence.
