Timothy Rub is The George D. Widener Director and Chief Executive Officer of The Philadelphia Museum of Art. Appointed in 2009, Rub is executing the Museum's plans for a 10-year, 500-million dollar expansion and renovation, designed by Frank Gehry. Previously, Rub served as director and chief executive officer of the Cleveland Museum of Art (2006-09), where he guided the Museum's comprehensive capital project and fundraising campaign, and as director of the Cincinnati Art Museum (2000-06). Earlier, he was director of the Hood Museum of Art at Dartmouth College (1991-99), and was a Ford Foundation Fellow and then curator at the Cooper Hewitt Museum (1983-87). Rub's field of specialization is in architecture and modern art. He received a BA in art history from Middlebury College, an MA in art history from the Institute of Fine Arts at New York University, and an MA in public and private management from Yale University.
