Composer and guitarist Nels Cline’s 40-year recording and performing career spans jazz, rock, punk, and experimental, with over 200 recordings. Best known as the lead guitarist in the band Wilco, Cline has received many accolades, including four Grammy Award nominations and a ranking on Rolling Stone's list of the best guitarists of all time. Beyond Wilco, Cline performs in a duo project with guitarist Julian Lage, and in a quartet, The Nels Cline 4, featuring Lage, bassist Scott Colley, and drummer Tom Rainey. In 2017 with Center support, Ars Nova Workshop commissioned Cline to create Lovers (for Philadelphia), an expansion of Cline’s 2016 recording Lovers (Blue Note Records).
