Michael Rakowitz’s work at the intersection of social practice, installation, and performance has been presented at venues such as dOCUMENTA (13), MoMA, 16th Biennale of Sydney, the 10th and 14th Istanbul Biennial, Yokohama Triennial, Tate Modern, and Creative Time, among others. Much of his work in the past decade has explored US-Iraqi relations and the production and aftermath of war, as well as the role of cultural production in the formation and perpetuation of identity. Rakowitz is professor of art theory and practice at Northwestern University and a visiting artist at the International Art Academy of Palestine, Ramallah. In 2016-17 with Center support, Mural Arts Philadelphia collaborated with Rakowitz to present Radio Silence, a participatory performance and radio project involving American veterans from the Iraq War and the Iraqi refugee community.
