Laurie Zierer is executive director of Pennsylvania Humanities Council (PHC). She joined PHC in 1995 as a program officer and was named executive director in 2012. Zierer has led PHC to strategically focus on civic engagement and education through programs such as “Humanities Live with WHYY,” and statewide initiatives such as “Our Stories, Our Future.” She serves on the board of New Century Trust, a National Historic Landmark in Philadelphia. Zierer holds an MA in rhetoric from Penn State University and a BA in English from Temple University. With Center support, PHC presents the Chester Made Cultural Exploration Zone, a community-driven research and place-making project to revitalize Chester’s downtown area.
