David Young is executive director of Cliveden of the National Trust, a National Historic Landmark located in the Germantown section of Philadelphia. During his time at Cliveden, the historic site has received state and national awards for community engagement, historic preservation, and interpretation. Prior to his work at Cliveden, Young was director of the Johnson House, a National Historic Landmark museum of the Underground Railroad, and education director at the Philadelphia History Museum. He has published on Germantown's African American history and on issues related to historic site sustainability. Young serves as a lecturer in the graduate program of historic preservation at the University of Pennsylvania School Of Design, and is a member of the Landmarks Committee advising the National Park Service on National Historic Landmark nominations. A Fulbright Scholar in 1993, Young holds a B.A. in German from Northwestern University and an M.A. and Ph.D. in history from Ohio State University.
